What’s new in the “Micro to macro” course at the University of Warsaw?
At the University of Warsaw, we have now completed more than half of the semester-long online course “Micro to macro. Social processes and individual behaviour”, taught by Anna Baczko‑Dombi, Katarzyna Abramczuk and Agata Komendant‑Brodowska. The third module of the course is “Growing Apart. What is polarisation and what can we do about it”, developed as part of the project.
We are now finishing the module on Social Network Analysis (SNA). A total of 66 participants are actively engaged in the course, and after the Easter break we will move on to the topic of social polarisation. The discussions are progressing very well — participants share thoughtful insights, and the international character of the course is a major asset. Students taking part through the Erasmus exchange bring in examples from different cultural contexts, enriching the whole group.
At the organisational level, the beginning of the course brought some confusion regarding deadlines and assessment rules, but thanks to a detailed and easily accessible syllabus and a synchronous Q&A session, the situation was quickly clarified.
