Game-based workshops
The project aims to develop an interactive game-based workshop on polarisation and dialogue tailored for students. Using user-friendly social simulations, the workshop will provide an engaging educational experience that goes beyond theoretical learning. By integrating educational games designed with social simulations, the goal is to enhance participant engagement, experiential learning, and deeper understanding of polarisation dynamics. The workshops will utilize existing social computational models to simulate the intricate processes underlying polarisation in a safe environment. Initially tested at the University of Warsaw, University of Groningen, and University of Tartu, the games will then be implemented across universities, involving both undergraduate and postgraduate students in 12-18 workshops with over 200 participants. These workshops leverage scientific expertise and interactive formats, grounded in rigorous research and modeling, to effectively engage diverse audiences. They will be adaptable for academic settings and secondary schools, offering customized versions suited to different educational contexts and levels of discussion. Additionally, a dedicated school version will be developed and tested in 2-4 schools in Poland and Estonia, aiming to educate secondary school students about the dangers of polarisation, its underlying mechanisms, and strategies to mitigate its effects. This work package directly contributes to the project’s overarching objective of raising awareness among young people and educators about polarisation issues.
